Now for the whole reason we came to California!!!
My little brother Bryan was married to Kelley Ann Malloy on April 24th, 2009 at the Los Angeles Temple, California!
The night before we had a great time playing with the Malloy's at their home in Valencia, CA. The children have been in the car so much this trip that they just wanted to play outside in the backyard even when it was time to go to the hotel.
On Friday morning we had a delicious family wedding breakfast at the stake center right by the temple. It was so nice to be together. The only drawback was SisterMalloy wasn't able to make it as she had to go back to Valencia for Kelley's wedding dress. I'm afraid it was quite a busy day for her, but it turned out so beautifully! And the sealing ceremony at the temple was so beautiful. The sealer focused on the beauty of the sealing ordinance and how it is beautiful that we give andreceive each other and how much we need each other and the blessings that can come from being true and faithful to each other and to the Lord.
One neat thing the sealer taught us was using the scripture from Ezekiel 40. In this chapter the prophet Ezekiel is shown in a vision a latter day Temple by an angel. He is asked to "behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee..." He said when we go to the temple we should take in all that we see, hear and feel and ponder on it to learn what the Lord would have us learn when we go to the temple. Then he talked about the ordinance, as well as what we could see in the sealing room. Above the alter, in the center of the room is a beautiful chandelier. It very conspicuous and beautiful. The sealer asked us what we thought the purpose or the symbol of the chandelier might be? I hadn't ever considered this before, I just thought they were beautiful. He taught us that the chandelier symbolizes the Savior - That He is the Light of the World and that He and the Atonement needs to be central in our marriage and in our lives. I am so thankful the sealer taught us that because it makes those beautiful chandeliers and lights in the temple mean so much more to me now. Our family members that weren't there were definitely missed. As beautiful as the sealing was, I was longing for all of my siblings and their spouses to be together with us in that sacred place. I can't wait for a day when that will be.
Bryan and Kelley and their parents had worked so hard to plan things well and it was a rich full and beautiful day! The reception went great! The refreshments were delicious! Our children had a fun time playing together with the cousins and other children! Julianne caught the bouquet and was very excited about that! Sandy, Robert & Millie and Julianne and Katie had a fun time decorating Bryan's car, and Sandy and Brent had a great time decorating Robert and Millie's car (3 months after their wedding - they thought they would escape that by hiding their car - but no!)! Bryan and Kelley had a lot of fun dancing together, and it was fun to see Brent dancing with Jane and John dancing with Grandma. I am so thankful for family and it was great to be together!
Congratulations Bryan and Kelley!
