This was the beautiful sunset on our way out to Baumgartner's on Thursday night. It was just gorgeous! This year for the 4th of July we did something non-traditional for the Brent and Tanya Orton family - We went camping! We didn't go to the ward breakfast, or the parade, we didn't eat corn on the cob or ice cream, we didn't even light a single firework. It hardly felt like the 4th of July at all- but it was still very fun! Jane did feel a bit bereft for not getting to decorate her bike and be in the parade, so we will have to do that next year!
What we did do, is that we met up with the Lewis clan at Baumgartner's toting the two four wheelers we had rented for Sandy and my parents for the occasion. Our original plan was to head on after that to Burley to an Orton family reunion, but once we got all the way out to Baumgartner's (which is a campground in the sawtooths based around a natural hot spring right off of the freezing cold Boise River) we decided to stay for the weekend. Our one mistake was not calling the Orton's to let them know that we weren't coming- which after all the worried messages we had on our phones when we got back - we will be sure to call next time!
This is Brent and I and the kids on the very fun 4-wheelers! The family we rented them from were so great and Brent and Chad and Kelly and Bryan and Sandy and Dad and Mom had a great time riding them, I felt a bit sick and nervous on them - But the children loved it! John would cry out in joy every time he took off on them! It looks like Brent has a partner in crime in his love for a wild ride!
Don't Sandy and Bryan look great? Did I mention it was Sandy's idea to do the 4-wheeler thing? She and Bryan were on them almost the whole time! Chad liked it too!
