Great Stake Conference!

This is Jane's artwork from Stake Conference last week! Elder Costa came and gave a wonderful talk! He talked about having faith like Nephi to obey. He shared his experience of joining the church at the age of 28 in Brasil and also the experience of watching saints sacrifice so much to go to the temple: Selling their possessions and saving to take their families on a week long trip-- 3 days by boat and 4 days by bus-- to go to the temple. And once they were there they would stay in the temple all weekend doing work until it was time to go back. He made a challenge to us to pick a day and go to the temple every week as a couple. It was a very powerful challenge and he said the blessings would be great! He also asked us to use our temple voices in our homes - to speak softer, kinder and with more respect to each other in our own homes - to make our homes more like the temple, and a place where the spirit can dwell. It has only been one week since that challenge and as we have tried to do that (use our temple voices in our home and go to the temple) and it has helped us remember to be kinder, helped me keep my patience longer and show greater love for the children and our dog :-) and has really helped my children be kinder to each other. We are going to keep working at it! We hope you will too!
